Helpless and Disable Promotion Centre, Nepal (HDCPCN) was established in 2005 and is purely a non-profitable and donation based organization. It is registered with the District Administration Office, Lalitpur, Nepal and is affiliated to the Social Welfare Council under the government of Nepal, Ministry of Social Welfare.

HDCPCN wants to uplift the living conditions of the poor, helpless and disabled children of Nepal. It is true that Nepalese children are still under-privileged to get the general facility and basic needs. As a result, they are leading a very miserable life. The tragedy faced by them is the discrimination from every aspect of life and the nation itself has been unable to incorporate them in the main stream of development. It is widely spoken that todays children are the future pillar of the nation. But it has been limited only in speech and a sheet of paper. Many of the Nepalese children are still disadvantaged due to poverty, lack of education, skill, awareness of opportunities and choices and on equal distribution of income and political instability.

The children under the protection of this organization at present are poor, helpless and disabled ones. Some of our children are from very poor, backward and marginalized background whereas others are parentless who are victim of the conflict in the country. Similarly, there are some children who are disabled either by birth or due to some other catastrophes. The organization is supporting 10 of these helpless and disabled children, at the moment. We hope to help and provide even better services for more of such helpless and disabled children in the near future with the help from generous supporters within the nation and overseas.

Objective:

The main objective of this organization is to rehabilitate and uplift the situation of the helpless and disabled children and make themselves self-reliant through the provision of free education, healthcare, and residential facilities.

Present Situation of the Organization:

The organization has been playing a vital role in protecting the helpless and disabled children in Nepal. The services rendered by us are, however, expanding day by day even in the present adverse situation in the country. The office and the housing facilities are all cramped in a rented flat has, the absence of basic infrastructure required for upbringing disabled children is very much felt. Though the organization has been providing meals three times a day for these children, the basic nutrient diet (viz meat, egg, milk, butter, etc) are lacking in these meals which is essential for the growth and development of these children.

Structure of the Organization:

HDCPCN is managed by the committee of thirteen executive members. Each active members assigned the task under different titles, and may take the help of each others in order to take care of the needs of children programs of the organization. All the members perform their tasks on completely voluntary basis. From this F/Y 2009-10, the organization has hired a care taker that lives in premises with the children and looks after their well being. The member of the organization elects the executive committee members during the Annual General Meeting for the time period of 3 years.

Current Activities of the Organization:

Currently, this organization is providing free education, healthcare and residential facilities to 10 helpless, disabled and conflict victim children from different parts of the country. These children are getting educational facilities from play group to Grade V in Highland Secondary English School, at Vaisepati, Lalitpur, Nepal. The organization has various awareness programs for the children and the community, however due to lack of sufficient fund the programs has not been executed yet.
